Smart Events not activating by camera

JB - Can you elaborate as to why you say only use the NVR to setup events etc? On my system I have ADVANCED options on my events that the NVR does not replicate so I don't think that I have the option to only use the NVR?

Do I move from Synology DS to Hikvision NVR

For what it is worth, about one year ago I moved from using a Qnap NAS for 16 cameras to a Hikvison NVR - Never looked back, reliability far better, more flexible in use and playback. Dont go for the cheapest, get the best you can afford - the 9 series are superb.

    UPS

Basically correct. As the Hikvision NVR range do not integrate with the UPS to automatically shutdown, it will just power off dirtily when the UPS runs out of juice. So unless you need recording during power outages and or better spike protection than a surge protector there is not much point...

    UPS

You are right, the Hikvision has no intelligence so having a UPS does not shut your system down cleanly. The main purpose of a CCTV UPS is to continue recording if someone flips your power at the meter box before breaking in. BUT recording will not continue if the any cameras or PoE supply is...

    POE vs POE+

The DS-2DE4225IW-DE requires PoE+ IEEE 802.3 at Class4 - The DS-7616NI-K2/16P supports IEEE 802.3 af/at so yes is the answer.

    DS-2DE4220IW-DE Stuck in Pattern PTZ

My DS-2DE4220IW-DE has become stuck in pattern mode - Usually when you have selected patrol or pattern then you select a single preset it takes it out of auto mode. Not this time - Reboot, same issue, wile PTZ settings, same issue, factory reset to all but IP/users - same issue, power cycle...
