    No cameras after NVR reset

You might need a Delorean unless you can remember the passwords for the cameras. If you know the password that the camera used (quite likely the same as the NVR password was), just change the NVR admin password to match along with the channel default password, then reboot the NVR. After a...

Hik-Connect human and vehicle event log ?

I’m guessing you’re using a separate ‘site’ in Hik-Connect for when you’re home or away. If so the LAN connection is direct using the local IP address and does not support that function. Conversely the WAN P2P connection is using the cloud service and so supports all functions. There’s no...

    M Series Firmware - 5.04.050_250124 Released

That's the version that Kyle from Hik support sent me a couple of weeks ago @Dan. I mentioned it in the previous 5.04.020 post as it was just a revised build date. It did fix that one specific issue but didn't address anything else and some of what I did get back to them about was put down to...

Lock Screen Password With System Config > Basic Info > Lock Screen Password set to off, the previous version would still require the pattern or password to be entered following a reboot when exiting the live view. This is resolved in this version (reported first in the other thread) Playback...

    M Series Firmware - 5.04.050_250124 Released

As reported by @johnfitzy 5.04.050_250124 has been released. First released on the US website and now on the global firmware search page. I've compared file properties from both and they are identical. There were multiple issues with 5.04.020 so I'll detail what is/isn't fixed in this version...

    Firmware M Series 5.04.020_241106 Released - Issues/Avoid

Apparently it was 5.04.050 that was going to include a fix enabling intercoms to be added. It’ll be interesting to know if that’s sorted.

    Firmware M Series 5.04.020_241106 Released - Issues/Avoid

It was previously staying selected so long as the Playback tab was left open in the upper toolbar. It was deselected if you close that tab and re open it.

    Hik Connect - what connects?

Glad it’s sorted for you. Sometimes simply dragging the home screen to refresh can resolve it. Another step I’ve had to do occasionally is toggling Hik-Connect (off, save, on, save) in the Platform Access/ Hik Connect page of the NVR/DVR.

Please assist with choice of camera

I'd always take the distances quoted for illumination distance with a pinch of salt, but yes you can manually lower the power of the white light in the settings. Unfortunately when someone walks up to the camera you'll resolve little detail of a face with direct white light on it - just a white...

    Hik Connect - what connects?

When the cameras are connected to the POE ports of the NVR, just the NVR is connected to the Hik-Conect platform. Even if Hik-Connect was setup directly on the individual cameras it would have no effect (the cameras have no path to the internet as the NVR keeps them on a different network...

    sadp tool mac

Hmm - that's a pain. I've just tried mine on MacBook running MacOS 15.3. As it was installed under an earlier version, the app starts but after a refresh does not see any devices. I also have Windows 11 running on the same MacBook in a Parallels VM and that works fine. I'll not hold much...

Please assist with choice of camera

The DF3T is going to perform better in low light. It's a lower resolution but the specs show that it can work at half the minimum illumination of the 3K model (0.0005 as opposed to 0.001 lux). It also has better wide dynamic range. 'A little bit of zoom'. I'd simply forget that. A 1080P...

HIKVISION DVR 4 Pin Power Supply - Which Side Is Negative / Which Side Is Positive?

The bare wire is negative and the white insulated wire is positive. So just match them like for like.

HIKVISION DVR 4 Pin Power Supply - Which Side Is Negative / Which Side Is Positive?

The test meter is set to Volts DC. Once the 2.5mm plug is cut off on the new one you're measuring across the bare wires. Completely safe - it's 12V. Correct. You put the meter leads across the two wires. Ensure the red and black lead are in the correct sockets on the meter. A minus reading...
