Hey everyone just wondering if anyone can shed any light on this for me at all. I setup the home cctv at my 'house' but long story short me and the missus have split up and im just wondering how I can transfer her the details to be the main admin whatever you wanna call it on the app ? I shared the devices with her when setting up and never had to do it before so apologies if it's a simple process to follow. Thanks

I don't think you can 'transfer' as such between you the 'site owner' and a user you've shared with. You'll first need to ditch the site and then she can re-add it:

On your app Home Screen click the 3 dots to the right of your site name, click settings, then scroll to the bottom and click 'Delete Device' and confirm. That will remove the device from both of your apps.

On her app, refresh the screen by dragging (there should be no devices showing), then add the device back in. (Add device, manual, Hik Domain, enter the serial number and verification code from the NVR when asked

Thanks for the reply JB , ill see if I can sort it out soon, hopefully its not too bad because there is no monitor with the NVR so would have to login online and I cant do it from where I live now as the IP is different ?

For you to delete you don't need to be on the same network. Just open Hik-connect app, three dot menu next to your 'site' name, settings then at the bottom of the page 'delete' and confirm it. Job done - it's out of the Hik-Connect account that you originally added it to (with your e mail or phone number). You will both lose access at this point.

At that point the NVR is still on Hik-Connect but not bound to an account. She should be able to add it back to her account from the app.

Ah spot on mate sounds "Easy" enough then lol. Is there a way I could adjust stuff on digital host way if I ever needed to for her ? could I use a vpn and input a certain IP to then be able to connect to it that way ? When my mate installed his a tried to change some event lines etc but I quickly realised I couldn't do it from my home for him as its a different IP lol

There are a few ways you could remotely administer it:

1 - Port forwarding. You'd port forward the http, server and rtsp ports to the IP address of the NVR. The NVR needs a static IP address for that and you may need Dynamic DNS depending on the provider. If it's Virgin Media it's easy as their IP addresses virtually never change but BT, Sky and all of the others do. If you needed to access a camera menu directly you'd also need to forward ports 65001 to 65004 (for cameras 1-4 via virtual host)

2- VPN. You'd need the router to support a VPN server (most providers standard kit does not). Once your VPNs client (PC, Mac) establishes a connection, you could access the NVR using it's IP address as if you were there.

Options 1 and 2 are both problematic with regard to security, privacy and web browser support (often you can't see the video to alter event settings). My recommendation would be:

3 - Register a Hik Partner Pro account. You could then administer the system when needed from the app. Importantly, she would have control over whether you could view, play back footage. If there's an issue to look at you can request permission in the app to view/playback and she can accept in hers. If you view, playback, configure her app gives a service notification. If there's a fault you get a notification.

Is that a paid service Hik Partner Pro?, thankfully we have split amicably so there is no bad feelings between us so I dont think there would be any issues of me calling round to sort things if needs be. And the internet is with Virgin (I think most of Teesside is?) and when I was trying to set up remote config through the app before I didn't understand it at all about port forwarding etc so I just left it haha.

The app is free. When you register a NVR you get 'Health Monitoring' free for one month after which you can pay a small amount for a further 12 months (it's fee in the EU but charged differently here). The 'Health Monitoring' is what allows remote viewing, playback and configuration along with real time reporting of faults to your app. Without it the NVR is still in the app but can only be administered using it if you're at the site on the same WiFi.

Port forwarding isn't difficult and nothing need be done in the app, it's set up and handled by the Virgin Hub, however it isn't considered secure and you can get the NVR hit with loads of illegal login attempts.

Okay mate that's good to know for future reference, and I'll leave all that sort of stuff for now unless I need to go down that route, fingers crossed I dont lol.
