Intercom and VOIP

Hi All, hoping you can help. We recently installed a DS-KD8003-IME1(B). We have this running by itself so we don't have an indoor station. We want dial a sip number when the call button is pressed. We have registered the device on the voip server and set the sip number but we still cant get it to work. Has anyone got this to work before or do we need an indoor station?
