NEW Firmware_V5.7.23_260114

Hi @Tomasz

What model is this firmware for?

Can you share a link to where you've found this firmware?

Wow... didn't think we would see new firmware for these models...

Since @Tomasz pointed it out I see it here...

DS-2CD2387G2-L(U)

As mentioned, the release notes don't mention what they've changed or improved... just 55 pages of model numbers :)

The version did jump from 5.7.19 to 5.7.23 so I imagine something changed?

Could be just security updates

I had this camera while ago and switched for 2387G3

Dual VCA(Save VCA Data) not working again for GUI 4.0 NXI-K NVRs(non Web5.0 UI). Can't tell about v4.84.000 or v4.84.100 and above
They should at least mention this, on release notes
Went back to v5.7.15 for my G5

Went back to v5.7.15 for my G5
so nothing has changed

No, it's the same with v5.7.17 ..18 ..19 ..21
Can't risk going from gui 4.0 v4.83.014 to v4.84.101 kind of web5.0 NXI-K, because I don't know if roll back is possible and if same issue exists there too.
Tried every combinations enabling disabling all kind of smart or intelligent settings, disabled Dynamic analysis, enabled Others only, but nothing works. Seems there is no communication at all for VCA. Not sent or no recorded.

The "Release Notes" (once again lacking in useable info) wasn't seachable. Should you download it..... scrolling thru 55 pages trying to find model #s was a PITA. Damn near impossible to find a specific model #. So I re-created their PDF and made it OCR searchable. Thought I'd share it here. CNTL-F (Find) should work on this OCR version.

Something interesting to note as I've seen a lot of people complain about dual VCA not working on the later G5 firmwares.

I have a DS-7608NI-M2/8P NVR which for the longest time has been on V4.63.025 build 231201.

My G5 cameras have also been on V5.7.21 build 250830 since ~December 2025 and dual VCA has been working fine. I upgraded them all to the V5.7.23 build 260114 firmware in this thread yesterday evening and dual VCA has been working fine.

Today I decided on finally taking the plunge and upgrading my NVR to V5.04.081 build 260112 and what do you know, dual VCA has been broken exactly since the NVR came back online since the upgrade.

Edit - V5.04.081 build 260112 did not let me downgrade back down to V4.63.025 build 231201 so I had to step down to V5.04.066 build 250620 and from there I was able to downgrade to V4.63.025

I've reverted back to V5.7.21 on my G5 cameras. While the upgrade to V5.7.23 seemed fine initially, notifications no longer display the live view option, only playback (this bug goes back many versions). I guess I am done with tinkering with firmware and will stick with what works. Hikvision really need to sort their s*** out and take a leap out of Dahua's book

Dual VCA is not a simple feature. It's a major need for cameras and nvrs to work together. I cannot see any other reason to make this unusable other than intentionally and maliciously. This is not a mistake that they do not notice. As I mentioned before, they could simply say that this Dual VCA functionality is missing from new firmware and on specific very expensive models of nvr, this continues working. Then it is our choice to upgrade or not.

Upgraded again with v5.7.23 deleted from NVR and add again this G5 camera with Hikvision RTSP protocol port 554.
On smart Event configuration the camera cannot be configured as "VCA By Camera" and on Normal Event the camera is missing.
The strange thing is that on Playback Event, a smart search with Motion Detection rule, by drawing a grid, gives back results and its not empty. It works.

Went back to Hikvision Protocol, tried different ports, but smart search by rules, Motion or Smart search always returns empty.

Today tested this firmware with clientdemo HCNetSDKV6.0.0.15_build20181120_win32_EN.
Added the NXI-K NVR, then selected upgraded camera, went to Playback then By Motion, on Channel selected again the upgraded camera, then Preview the camera, on Retrieval the first option is Motion Search(can't see but strange characters means motion), then selected sensitivity to 3 and performed a Search. All smart VCA recordings returned normally. Sensitivity 2 and 1 also works.
Then selected the second option on Retrieval which is Line Crossing. Everything works fine there too and all Smart Events are retrieved with a search.
Then selected the third option on Retrieval which is a shape for drawing an area and search worked fine again.

All this means that the camera Dual VCA and NVR Save camera VCA data are working fine and all VCA are recorded on the disk.

But none of the above works on NVR GUI, on IVMS4200 or by using a browser. Motion and Smart always returns empty there.

@RetiredDinosaur, you say that Dual VCA works fine with this firmware and your NI-M2 NVR. Do you mean the Smart search by Rules, either Motion or Smart, or you mean the recorded events that you have preconfigured on Event settings?

By Dual VCA working I mean cameras configured with intrusion detection only (basic motion & dual vca disabled), where human/vehicle checkbox is ticked and these markers display as normal. Also cameras with intrusion detection, basic motion, and dual VCA enabled, where grid motion, line crossing, and intrusion box markers all display as expected as well as human/vehicle checkbox

I should caveat this with, when upgrading to the latest V5 firmware from V4, both the NVR and iVMS-4200 correctly displayed VCA markers for recordings created on V4; however, no VCA data seems to get saved by V5 firmware as I didn't see any new VCA markers after the upgrade.

Thanks for the reply.
What I mean for the "raw"data of VCA, is that with older firmware e.g. v5.7.15 for G5 cameras in use with v4.0 NVR firmwares we could just:
a. In Event Basic Event(Motion), click enable, also enable Dynamic Analysis for motion, draw full screen area, adjust sensitivity to 100. All set to VCA by camera
b. In Event Perimeter Protection, just enable Line Crossing, Intrusion, Region Entrance and Region Exiting. Also all set to VCA by camera.
This was not necessary here to draw regions or adjust any kind of sensitivities or adjust notifications.

Then someone, on NVR GUI, or ivms4200, or browser, could go Playback, Normal, select Smart Search, Draw the searching Area or Draw Line on the screen and reveal all kinds of events that were detected, sent to NVR and recorded. Same thing could be done by Playback, Event, play the camera, then Smart Search, then Draw Motion or Draw Intrusion or draw Line and the search revealed again all the raw VCA data of the area that was "drawn".

This was perfect for someone that did not want notifications and also for someone that wanted every detail in previous detection and on every corner of his camera coverage.

Now with v5.7.17 and above for G5s this feature seems to have been removed. Only Humans and Vehicles can be found, if recognised. @JB1970 also said that the new ColorVU 3.0 are missing this feature.
But as I wrote above, all these raw vca data exist and can be found with hikvision clientdemo. Not the NVRs not ivms not the browsers can find them.
This could be the Hikvision protocol if upgraded or network security limitations. I don't know....

Data is there and accesable with api, why they stopped showing it is totally unknown. One could argue its due to hik central selling.

Thanks @trempa92 for the reply.
Yes I have noticed this after testing with clientdemo HCNetSDKV6.0.0.15_build20181120_win32_EN.
I don't know if any Security, Network or Advanced network setting can fix this

b. In Event Perimeter Protection, just enable Line Crossing, Intrusion, Region Entrance and Region Exiting. Also all set to VCA by camera.
This was not necessary here to draw regions or adjust any kind of sensitivities or adjust notifications.
I don't think there is any need to enable any of the above smart events as you can still do line crossing and draw the intrusion lines on playback with basic motion detection + dynamic analysis for motion enabled.

I guess people use events in different ways and I mainly use smart events, namely intrusion detection for notifications and then enable full screen screen basic motion with dynamic analysis for motion to retroactively check for events outside my intrusion zone that I normally wouldn't receive intrusion notifications.

Is this a newer version of HCNetSDK Device Network SDK (for Windows 64-bit) how are you building this?
